- Kapitel 1 -

(Colossians 1:15–23)
1
In many places and in many ways, in past times, God spoke to the fathers through the Prophets;(a)
2
lastly, in these days, he has spoken to us through the Son, whom he appointed as the heir of all things, and through whom he made the world.
3
And since the Son is the brightness of his glory, and the figure of his substance, and is carrying all things by the Word of his virtue, thereby accomplishing a purging of sins, he sits at the right hand of Majesty on high.(b) (c) (d)
4
And having been made so much better than the Angels, he has inherited a name so much greater than theirs.
5
For to which of the Angels has he ever said: “You are my Son; today have I begotten you?” Or again: “I will be a Father to him, and he shall be a Son to me?”
6
And again, when he brings the only-begotten Son into the world, he says: “And let all the Angels of God adore him.”
7
And about the Angels, certainly, he says: “He makes his Angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.”
8
But about the Son: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of equity.
9
You have loved justice, and you have hated iniquity. Because of this, God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of exultation, above your companions.”
10
And: “In the beginning, O Lord, you founded the earth. And the heavens are the work of your hands.
11
These shall pass away, but you will remain. And all will grow old like a garment.
12
And you will change them like a cloak, and they shall be changed. Yet you are ever the same, and your years will not diminish.”
13
But to which of the Angels has he ever said: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool?”
14
Are they not all spirits of ministration, sent to minister for the sake of those who shall receive the inheritance of salvation?

(a)1:1 The word ‘multifariam’ refers more to places (or parts) than to times; time is referred to in ‘olim,’ which is ‘past times.’(Conte)
(b)1:3 The Son is the brightness of the Father’s glory and the visible figure of the Father’s invisible substance, and the Word of the Son is of the Power of the Father.(Conte)
(c)1:3 The figure:that is, the express image, and most perfect resemblance.(Challoner)

(Colossians 1:15–23)
1
God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
2
has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds.
3
His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, who, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high,
4
having become as much better than the angels as the more excellent name he has inherited is better than theirs.
5
For to which of the angels did he say at any time,You are my Son. Today I have become your father?”(a) and again,I will be to him a Father, and he will be to me a Son?”(b)
6
When he again brings in the firstborn into the world he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him.”(c)
7
Of the angels he says,He makes his angels winds, and his servants a flame of fire.”(d)
8
But of the Son he says,Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom.
9
You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.”(e)
10
And,You, Lord, in the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands.
11
They will perish, but you continue. They all will grow old like a garment does.
12
You will roll them up like a mantle, and they will be changed; but you are the same. Your years won’t fail.”(f)
13
But which of the angels has he told at any time,Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?”(g)
14
Aren’t they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
