- Kapitel 22 -

(2 Kings 8:25–29)

Then the people of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, the youngest son of Jehoram, king in his place, since the raiders who had come into the camp with the Arabs

had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah son of Jehoram became king of Judah.

Ahaziah was twenty-two

(b)

years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri.

Ahaziah also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counselor in wickedness.

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as the house of Ahab had done, for to his destruction they were his counselors after the death of his father.

Ahaziah also followed their counsel and went with Joram son of Ahab king of Israel to fight against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth-gilead. But the Arameans (c) wounded Joram;(d)

so he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds they had inflicted on him at Ramah

when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. Then Ahaziah

son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to visit Joram son of Ahab, because Joram had been wounded.

Ahaziah’s downfall came from God when he went to visit Joram. When Ahaziah arrived, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu son

of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.

Jehu Kills the Princes of Judah

(2 Kings 9:14–29)

So while Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he found the rulers of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah’s brothers who were serving Ahaziah, and he killed them.

Then Jehu looked for Ahaziah, and Jehu’s soldiers captured him while he was hiding in Samaria. So Ahaziah was brought to Jehu and put to death. They buried him, for they said, “He is the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart.” So no one was left from the house of Ahaziah with the strength to rule the kingdom.

Athaliah and Joash

(2 Kings 11:1–3)

When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to annihilate all the royal heirs of the house of Judah.

But Jehoshabeath

daughter of King Jehoram took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the sons of the king who were being murdered, and she put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and the wife of Jehoiada the priest, was Ahaziah’s sister, she hid Joash from Athaliah so that she could not kill him.

And Joash remained hidden with them in the house of God for six years while Athaliah ruled the land.

Ahasja regiert in Juda

(2. Könige 8,25-29)

Die Bewohner von Jerusalem aber machten Ochozias, seinen jüngsten Sohn, zum König an seiner Statt; denn alle älteren, die vor ihm gewesen waren, hatten die Raubscharen der Araber getötet, welche das Lager überfallen hatten. So ward Ochozias, der Sohn Jorams, des Königs von Juda, König.

Zweiundvierzig Jahre war Ochozias alt, als er König wurde, und ein Jahr herrschte er zu Jerusalem; seine Mutter hieß Athalia, eine Tochter Amris.

Aber auch er wandelte auf den Wegen des Hauses Achab, denn seine Mutter verleitete ihn dazu, gottlos zu handeln.

So tat er, was vor dem Angesichte des Herrn böse war, wie das Haus Achab; denn diese waren nach seines Vaters Tod seine Ratgeber zu seinem Untergange.

Und er hielt sich an ihren Rat und zog mit Joram, dem Sohne Achabs, dem Könige von Israel, in den Krieg gegen Hazael, den König von Syrien, nach Ramoth Galaad, und die Syrer verwundeten Joram.

Da kehrte dieser zurück, um sich in Jezrahel heilen zu lassen, denn er hatte viele Wunden im vorgenannten Kampfe empfangen. Ochozias also, der Sohn Jorams, der König von Juda, zog hinab, um Joram, den Sohn Achabs, zu besuchen, der in Jezrahel krank lag.

Denn es war Gottes Wille gegen Ochozias, dass er zu Joram ging. Als er zu demselben kam, zog er mit ihm gegen Jehu, dem Sohn Namsis, welchen der Herr gesalbt hatte, das Haus Achabs zu vernichten.

(2. Könige 9,14-29)

Da nun Jehu das Haus Achabs vernichtete, traf er die Fürsten Judas und die Söhne der Brüder Ochozias, welche demselben dienten, und tötete sie.

Sodann suchte er Ochozias selbst und ließ ihn in Samaria, wo er sich verborgen hatte, ergreifen. Als jener vor ihn geführt ward, tötete er ihn und man begrub ihn, weil er der Sohn Josaphats war, welcher den Herrn von ganzem Herzen gesucht hatte; hinfort war keine Hoffnung mehr, dass jemand von dem Geschlechte des Ochozias König würde.

Athalja regiert in Juda

(2. Könige 11,1-3)

Als nämlich Athalia, seine Mutter, sah, dass ihr Sohn tot war, erhob sie sich und tötete den ganzen Königsstamm des Hauses Joram.

Josabeth aber, die Tochter des Königs, nahm Joas, den Sohn des Ochozias, und brachte ihn heimlich aus der Mitte der Söhne des Königs, als diese getötet wurden, und verbarg ihn mit seiner Amme in einer Betkammer. Josabeth, die ihn versteckt hatte, war die Tochter des Königs Joram, die Frau des Hohenpriesters Jojada, die Schwester des Ochozias; darum tötete Athalia ihn nicht.

Er blieb also bei ihnen im Hause Gottes sechs Jahre verborgen, während welcher Athalia über das Land herrschte.
