- Kapitel 13 -

This is the third time I am coming to you. “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.”(a)

I already warned you the second time I was with you. So now in my absence I warn those who sinned earlier and everyone else: If I return, I will not spare anyone,

since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you.

For He was indeed crucified in weakness, yet He lives by God’s power. And though we are weak in Him, yet by God’s power we will live with Him to serve you.

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Can’t you see for yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you actually fail the test?

And I hope you will realize that we have not failed the test.

Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong—not that we will appear to have stood the test, but that you will do what is right, even if we appear to have failed.

For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.

In fact, we rejoice when we are weak but you are strong, and our prayer is for your perfection.

This is why I write these things while absent, so that when I am present I will not need to be severe in my use of the authority that the Lord gave me for building you up, not for tearing you down.

Benediction and Farewell

Finally, brothers, rejoice! Aim for perfect harmony, encourage one another,(b) be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.

Greet one another with a holy kiss.

All the saints send you greetings.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.(c)

Mit Autorität kommen

Sehet, ich komme zum dritten Male zu euch. Auf die Aussage zweier oder dreier Zeugen wird eine Sache feststehen.

Ich habe es vorhergesagt, und sage es vorher, wie bei meiner Anwesenheit, so jetzt bei meiner Abwesenheit, sowohl denen, die vorher gesündigt haben, wie allen übrigen, dass, wenn ich wieder komme, ich nicht schonen werde.

Verlangt ihr eine Bewährung dessen, der in mir redet, Christus, der an euch nicht schwach, sondern mächtig unter euch ist?

Denn wenn er auch aus Schwachheit gekreuzigt worden ist, so lebt er doch aus Gottes Kraft; denn auch wir sind schwach in ihm, doch werden wir mit ihm leben aus Gottes Kraft in euch.

Stellet euch selbst auf die Probe, ob ihr im Glauben seid, prüfet euch selbst! Oder erkennet ihr euch selbst nicht, dass Christus Jesus in euch ist? Ihr müsstet denn etwa unbewährt sein.

Ich hoffe aber, ihr werdet erkennen, dass wir nicht unbewährt sind.

Paulus bevorzugt die Sanftmut

Wir flehen aber zu Gott, dass ihr nichts Böses tun möget, nicht, dass wir bewährt erscheinen, sondern damit ihr das Gute tuet, wir aber wie unbewährt seien.

Denn wir vermögen nichts wider die Wahrheit, sondern für die Wahrheit.

Wir freuen uns ja, wenn wir schwach sind, ihr aber stark seid; darum beten wir auch um eure Vollendung.

Darum schreibe ich dies abwesend, damit ich anwesend nicht mit Strenge verfahren müsse, vermöge der Gewalt, die mir der Herr verliehen hat zur Erbauung, und nicht zur Zerstörung.

Übrigens, Brüder! freuet euch, werdet vollkommen, tröstet einander, seid gleichgesinnt, haltet Frieden, und der Gott des Friedens wird mit euch sein.

Grüßet einander in heiligem Kusse! Es grüßen euch alle Heiligen.

Die Gnade unsers Herrn Jesus Christus, und die Liebe Gottes, und die Gemeinschaft des Heiligen Geistes sei mit euch allen! Amen.
