- Kapitel 29 -

Give glory to the Lord

1
A Psalm of David, at the completion of the tabernacle. Bring to the Lord, O sons of God, bring to the Lord the sons of rams.
2
Bring to the Lord, glory and honor. Bring to the Lord, glory for his name. Adore the Lord in his holy court.
3
The voice of the Lord is over the waters. The God of majesty has thundered. The Lord is over many waters.
4
The voice of the Lord is in virtue. The voice of the Lord is in magnificence.
5
The voice of the Lord shatters the cedars. And the Lord will shatter the cedars of Lebanon.
6
And it will break them into pieces, like a calf of Lebanon, and in the same way as the beloved son of the single-horned beast.(a)
7
The voice of the Lord cuts through the flame of fire.
8
The voice of the Lord shakes the desert. And the Lord will quake the desert of Kadesh.
9
The voice of the Lord is preparing the stags, and he will reveal the dense woods. And in his temple, all will speak his glory.
10
The Lord causes the great flood to dwell. And the Lord will sit as King in eternity.(b)

The Lord will give virtue to his people. The Lord will bless his people in peace.

(a)28:6 Shall reduce them to pieces, etc:In Hebrew, shall make them to skip like a calf. The psalmist here describes the effects of thunder (which he calls the voice of the Lord) which sometimes breaks down the tallest and strongest trees; and makes their broken branches skip, etc. All this is to be understood mystically of the powerful voice of God’s word in his church; which has broken the pride of the great ones of this world, and brought many of them meekly and joyfully to submit their necks to the sweet yoke of Christ.(Challoner)

Ein Psalm Davids, am Schlusse des Laubhüttenfestes. Bringet dem Herrn, ihr Söhne Gottes! bringet dem Herrn junge Widder dar.

Bringet dem Herrn Preis und Ehre dar, bringet dem Herrn Preis, seinem Namen; betet den Herrn an in seinem heiligen Vorhofe!

Die Stimme des Herrn erschallt über den Wassern, der Gott der Herrlichkeit lässt Donner erdröhnen, der Herr lässt Donner erdröhnen über großen Wassern.

Die Stimme des Herrn ertönt mit Kraft, die Stimme des Herrn in Herrlichkeit.

Die Stimme des Herrn, der Zedern zerschmettert; ja, der Herr zerschmettert die Zedern des Libanon
6
und zerschlägt sie wie ein junges Rind auf dem Libanon; er, der Geliebte, gleicht einem jungen Einhorn.
7
Die Stimme des Herrn, der die Feuerflammen zerteilt;
8
die Stimme des Herrn, der die Wüste erschüttert, und der Herr macht die Wüste Kades erbeben.
9
Die Stimme des Herrn, der die Hindinnen gebären lässt und die dichten Wälder lichtet, und in seinem Tempel sprechen alle: Herrlichkeit!
10
Die Wasserflut macht der Herr zur Wohnung sich, dort thront der Herr als König in Ewigkeit.
11
Der Herr wird seinem Volke Kraft verleihen, der Herr wird sein Volk mit Frieden segnen.
