- Kapitel 5 -

(2 Chronicles 2:1–10)

And Hiram King of Tyrus sent his seruants vnto Salomon, (for he had heard, that they had anoynted him King in the roume of his father) because Hiram had euer loued Dauid.

Also Salomon sent to Hiram, saying,

Thou knowest that Dauid my father could not build an house vnto the Name of the Lord his God, for the warres which were about him on euery side, vntill the Lord had put them vnder the soles of his feete.

But now the Lord my God hath giuen me rest on euery side, so that there is neither aduersarie, nor euill to resist.

And beholde, I purpose to build an house vnto ye Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spake vnto Dauid my father, saying, Thy sonne, whom I wil set vpon thy throne for thee, he shall build an house vnto my Name.

Now therefore commaund, that they hewe me cedar trees out of Lebanon, and my seruants shall be with thy seruants, and vnto thee will I giue the hire for thy seruants, according to all that thou shalt appoynt: for thou knowest that there are none among vs, that can hewe timber like vnto the Sidonians.

Hiram’s Reply to Solomon

(2 Chronicles 2:11–18)

And when Hiram heard the wordes of Salomon, he reioyced greatly, and sayde, Blessed be the Lord this day, which hath giuen vnto Dauid a wise sonne ouer this mightie people.

And Hiram sent to Salomon, saying, I haue considered the things, for the which thou sentest vnto me, and will accomplish all thy desire, concerning the cedar trees and firre trees.

My seruants shall bring them downe from Lebanon to the sea: and I will conuey them by sea in raftes vnto the place that thou shalt shew me, and wil cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receiue them: nowe thou shalt doe mee a pleasure to minister foode for my familie.

So Hiram gaue Salomon cedar trees and firre trees, euen his full desire.

And Salomon gaue Hiram twentie thousand measures of wheate for foode to his householde, and twentie measures of beaten oyle. Thus much gaue Salomon to Hiram yere by yere.

And the Lord gaue Salomon wisedome as he promised him. And there was peace betweene Hiram and Salomon, and they two made a couenant.

Solomon’s Labor Force

And King Salomon raised a summe out of all Israel, and the summe was thirtie thousand men:

Whome he sent to Lebanon, ten thousand a moneth by course: they were a moneth in Lebanon, and two moneths at home. And Adoniram was ouer the summe.

And Salomon had seuentie thousand that bare burdens, and fourescore thousand masons in the mountaine,

Besides the princes, whome Salomon appoynted ouer the worke, euen three thousande and three hundreth, which ruled the people that wrought in the worke.

And the King commanded them, and they brought great stones and costly stones to make the foundation of the house, euen hewed stones.

And Salomons workemen, and the workemen of Hiram, and the masons hewed and prepared timber and stones for the buylding of the house.

Salomo bereitet den Bau des Tempels vor

(2. Chronik 2,1-10)

Auch Hiram, der König von Tyrus, sandte seine Diener zu Salomon, denn er hatte vernommen, dass man ihn an seines Vaters Statt zum König gesalbt hatte; Hiram nämlich war alle Zeit ein Freund Davids gewesen.

Salomon hingegen sandte zu Hiram und ließ ihm sagen:

Du weißt, was mein Vater David willens war und dass er nicht im Stande war, dem Namen des Herrn, seines Gottes, ein Haus zu bauen wegen der ihn ringsum bedrohenden Kriege, bis sie der Herr unter seine Füße gab.

Jetzt aber hat der Herr, mein Gott, mir ringsum Ruhe geschaffen und es ist kein Widersacher noch ein Unglücksfall da.

Darum gedenke ich, dem Namen des Herrn, meines Gottes, einen Tempel zu bauen, wie der Herr zu meinem Vater David gesprochen und gesagt hat: Dein Sohn, den ich an deiner Statt auf deinen Thron setzen werde, soll meinem Namen ein Haus bauen.

So befiehl nun, dass deine Diener mir Zedern auf dem Libanon fällen, und meine Diener sollen deinen Dienern beistehen; den Lohn für deine Diener aber will ich dir geben, so viel du immer verlangst; denn du weißt, dass niemand unter meinem Volke ist, der Holz behauen verstände wie die Sidonier.

(2. Chronik 2,11-18)

Als nun Hira die Worte Salomons hörte, freute er sich sehr und sprach: Gepriesen sei der Herr, Gott, heute, welcher David einen so weisen Sohn gegeben über dieses zahlreiche Volk!

Und Hiram sandte an Salomon und ließ ihm sagen: Ich habe alles vernommen, was du mir entboten hast; ich will alle deine Wünsche bezüglich des Zedernholzes und des Tannenholzes erfüllen.

Meine Knechte sollen es vom Libanon an das Meer herabbringen und ich will es zu Flößen im Meere zusammenfügen und bis an den Ort bringen lassen, den du mir angibst; dort werde ich es ans Land bringen lassen und du lässest es holen, aber du musst mir den Bedarf verschaffen, dass mein Haus Nahrung habe.

So gab Hiram dem Salomon Zedernholz und Tannenholz, so viel er begehrte.

Salomon aber gab dem Hiram zwanzigtausend Kor Weizen als Unterhalt für sein Haus, und zwanzig Kor des reinsten Öls; dies gab Salomon dem Hiram Jahr für Jahr.

Und der Herr gab Salomon Weisheit, wie er ihm verheißen hatte; und es war Friede zwischen Hiram und Salomon, und beide schlossen einen Bund miteinander.

Und der König Salomon wählte Werkleute von ganz Israel aus, und das Aufgebot traf dreißigtausend Mann.

Diese sandte er auf den Libanon, zehntausend in jedem Monate, wechselweise, so dass sie zwei Monate zu Hause waren; und Adoniram war über dieses Aufgebot gesetzt.

Weiter hatte Salomon siebzigtausend Lastträger, und achtzigtausend Steinhauer im Gebirge,

ungerechnet die Vorsteher, welche über jede Arbeit gesetzt waren, dreitausend und dreihundert an der Zahl, welche das Volk und die Werkleute leiteten.

Und der König befahl, große und kostbare Steine als Grund für den Tempel zu nehmen und sie zu Quadern zu hauen.

Die Bauleute Salomons aber und die Bauleute Hirams bearbeiteten sie; und die Gibliter richteten Holz und Steine zum Baue des Hauses zu.
