- Kapitel 4 -

(1 Kings 7:23–26)

Moreover he made an altar of brass, twenty cubits the length thereof, and twenty cubits the breadth thereof, and ten cubits the height thereof.

Also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.(a)

And under it was the similitude of oxen, which did compass it round about: ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about. Two rows of oxen were cast, when it was cast.

It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward.

And the thickness of it was an handbreadth, and the brim of it like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths.(b)

The Ten Basins, Lampstands, and Tables

(1 Kings 7:38–39)

He made also ten lavers, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them: such things as they offered for the burnt offering they washed in them; but the sea was for the priests to wash in.(c)

And he made ten candlesticks of gold according to their form, and set them in the temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left.

He made also ten tables, and placed them in the temple, five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made an hundred basons of gold.(d)

The Courts

Furthermore he made the court of the priests, and the great court, and doors for the court, and overlaid the doors of them with brass.

And he set the sea on the right side of the east end, over against the south.

Completion of the Bronze Works

(1 Kings 7:40–47)

And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basons. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the house of God;(e)

To wit, the two pillars, and the pommels, and the chapiters which were on the top of the two pillars, and the two wreaths to cover the two pommels of the chapiters which were on the top of the pillars;

And four hundred pomegranates on the two wreaths; two rows of pomegranates on each wreath, to cover the two pommels of the chapiters which were upon the pillars.(g)

He made also bases, and lavers made he upon the bases;(h)

One sea, and twelve oxen under it.

The pots also, and the shovels, and the fleshhooks, and all their instruments, did Huram his father make to king Solomon for the house of the Lord of bright brass.(i)

In the plain of Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredathah.(j)

Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of the brass could not be found out.

Completion of the Gold Furnishings

(1 Kings 7:48–51)

And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables whereon the shewbread was set;

Moreover the candlesticks with their lamps, that they should burn after the manner before the oracle, of pure gold;

And the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, made he of gold, and that perfect gold;(k)

And the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers, of pure gold: and the entry of the house, the inner doors thereof for the most holy place, and the doors of the house of the temple, were of gold.(l)

Die Einrichtung des Tempels

(1. Könige 7,23-26)

Ferner machte er einen ehernen Altar, zwanzig Ellen lang und zwanzig Ellen breit und zehn Ellen hoch;

sodann das gegossene Meer, zehn Ellen von einem Rande zum anderen, ringsum gerundet; fünf Ellen war es hoch und eine Schnur von dreißig Ellen lief um seinen Rand.

Unter demselben waren Rindergestalten und verschiedenes Bildwerk umschloss außen in zwei Reihen, auf je zehn Ellen, den Bauch des Meeres; die Rinder waren gegossen.

Das Meer selbst stand auf zwölf Rindern, von denen drei nach Norden gewendet waren, drei andere nach Westen, drei andere nach Süden, und die drei letzten nach Osten und das Meer ruhte auf ihnen; die Hinterteile der Rinder aber waren unter dem Meere nach innen zu.

Die Dicke des Meeres war eine Handbreite und sein Rand war wie der Rand eines Bechers oder einer aufgegangenen Lilie; es fasste dreitausend Metreten.

(1. Könige 7,38-39)

Auch machte er zehn Becken und stellte fünf zur Rechten und fünf zur Linken auf, damit alles, was man zum Brandopfer darbringen wollte, darin gewaschen würde; im Meere aber sollten sich die Priester waschen.

Sodann machte er zehn goldene Leuchter nach der Form, die vorgeschrieben war, und stellte sie im Tempel auf, fünf zur Rechten und fünf zur Linken;

und ebenso zehn Tische, und setzte sie in den Tempel, fünf zur Rechten und fünf zur Linken; und hundert goldene Schalen.

Ferner machte er den Vorhof der Priester und den großen Hallenbau und Türen in den Hallenbau und überzog diese mit Erz.

Und das Meer setzte er auf die rechte Seite gegen Osten, nach Süden zu.

(1. Könige 7,40-47)

Hiram aber machte Töpfe und Gabeln und Schalen und vollendete alles, was er für den König im Hause Gottes zu machen hatte,

nämlich die zwei Säulen mit den Aufsätzen und Knäufen und die netzförmigen Reife, welche die Knäufe über den Aufsätzen bedeckten,

und die vierhundert Granatäpfel und die zwei netzförmigen Reife, so dass je zwei Reihen Granatäpfel an jedem Reife hingen, um die Aufsätze und Knäufe der Säulen zu bedecken.

Und er machte die Gestelle und die Becken, welche er auf die Gestelle setzte;

das eine Meer und zwölf Rinder unter das Meer,

und die Töpfe und Gabeln und Schalen. Alle Gerätschaften machte Hiram, sein Vater, dem Salomon im Hause des Herrn aus dem feinsten Erze.

In der Jordanlandschaft ließ sie der König gießen in Lehmerde zwischen Sochot und Saredatha.

Die Gerätschaften aber waren in unzählbarer Menge, so dass man das Gewicht des Erzes nicht wusste.

(1. Könige 7,48-51)

Und Salomon fertigte alle Gerätschaften des Hauses Gottes, den goldenen Altar, die Tische mit den Schaubroten darauf;

die Leuchter mit ihren Lampen, die vor dem Spruchorte nach Vorschrift leuchten sollten, vom lautersten Gold;

auch das Blumenwerk, die Lampen und die goldenen Lichtscheeren, alles ward aus dem feinsten Golde gemacht;

ebenso die Gefäße zum Räuchern und die Rauchfässer und die Schalen und Mörser vom reinsten Golde. Auch machte er die Türen des inneren Tempels, zum Allerheiligsten, mit Schnitzwerk und die äußeren Türen des Tempels von Gold. So war die ganze Arbeit vollendet, welche Salomon im Hause des Herrn schaffte.
