- Kapitel 7 -

Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord God unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.

Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.(a)

And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the Lord .

Thus saith the Lord God ; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come.

An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come.(b)

The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.(c)

Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.

And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the Lord that smiteth.(d)

Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.

Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of theirs: neither shall there be wailing for them.(e)

The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.(f)

The Desolation of Israel

They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.

But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.

All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water.(i)

They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.

They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord : they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.(j)

As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them.(l)

And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it.

My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.(m)

Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.(n)

Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.(o)

Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.

The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the Lord .(p)

Das Gericht über Israel ist nahe

Und es erging an mich das Wort des Herrn also:

Menschensohn! So spricht der Herr, Gott, zu dem Lande Israel: Das Ende kommt, es kommt das Ende über die vier Seiten des Landes.

Nunmehr kommt das Ende über dich und ich will meinen Zorn wider dich entsenden und ich will dich nach deinem Wandel richten und dir alle deine Greuel gegenüberstellen.

Mein Auge soll deiner nicht schonen und ich will mich nicht erbarmen, sondern werde dir Strafe für deinen Wandel auferlegen und deine Greuel werden in deiner Mitte sein, und ihr sollt erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin.

So spricht der Herr, Gott: Eine Züchtigung, siehe, eine Züchtigung kommt!

Das Ende kommt, es kommt das Ende, es ist gegen dich aufgestanden, siehe, es kommt!

Es kommt die Vernichtung über dich, Bewohner des Landes, es kommt die Zeit, nahe ist der Tag des Mordens und nicht des Jauchzens auf den Bergen.

Nun werde ich bald meinen Zorn über dich ausschütten und meinen ganzen Grimm an dir ausüben und ich werde dich richten nach deinem Wandel und dir alle deine Missetaten auflegen.

Mein Auge wird nicht schonen, sondern ich werde deinen Wandel auf dich legen und deine Greuel sollen in deiner Mitte sein und ihr sollt erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin, der schlägt.

Siehe, der Tag, siehe, er kommt! Die Vernichtung ist hervorgebrochen, aufgeblüht ist die Rute, aufgesproßt der Übermut.

Die Gewalttätigkeit ist zur Rute für die Gottlosigkeit emporgewachsen; niemand von ihnen bleibt übrig, keiner aus dem Volke, keiner von ihrem Getümmel, und sie haben keine Ruhe.

Gekommen ist die Zeit, genaht der Tag; wer kauft, freue sich nicht; und wer verkauft, traure nicht; denn Zorn kommt über all ihr Volk.

Denn wer verkauft, wird nicht zu dem, was er verkauft hat, zurückgelangen, wenn er auch unter den Lebenden fortlebte; denn auch die Weissagung, welche gegen sein ganzes Volk ergangen, wird nicht zurückgenommen werden, und keiner wird im Frevel seines Lebens sicher sein.

Blaset die Posaune, alles rüste sich! Aber niemand zieht in den Kampf, denn mein Zorn ist entbrannt über all ihr Volk.

Draußen das Schwert, drinnen die Seuche und der Hunger; wer auf dem Felde ist, wird durch das Schwert sterben, und wer in der Stadt ist, wird von Seuche und Hunger aufgezehrt werden.

Wenn einige aus ihnen entrinnen und sich retten, so werden sie auf den Bergen gleich den Tauben der Täler sein, insgesamt zitternd, ein jeder um seiner Verschuldung willen.

Alle Hände werden kraftlos werden und alle Knie von Wasser fließen.

Sie werden Trauerkleider anlegen und Entsetzen wird sie umhüllen, auf allen Angesichtern wird Beschämung sein und auf allen ihren Häuptern Kahlheit.

Ihr Silber wird hinausgeworfen werden, Gold wie Kot gelten; ihr Silber und ihr Gold wird sie nicht zu befreien vermögen am Tage des Grimmes des Herrn, ihre Seele werden sie nicht damit sättigen und ihren Bauch nicht damit füllen können, denn es ward ihnen ein Anstoß zur Verschuldung.

Und den Schmuck ihrer Kleinode gebrauchten sie zu stolzem Prunken und machten daraus die Bilder ihrer greuelhaften Götzen, darum habe ich es für sie zur Unreinigkeit gewandelt.

und werde es in die Hände der Fremden zur Plünderung überliefern und den Ruchlosen der Erde zur Beute, dass sie es entweihen.

Und ich werde mein Angesicht von ihnen abwenden, dass sie mein innerstes Heiligtum entweihen, und Räuber werden in dasselbe eindringen und es schänden!

Mache den Schluss, denn das Land ist voll von Blutschuld und die Stadt voll von Gewalttat.

Und ich werde die Schlimmsten unter den Völkern herbeiführen, dass diese ihre Häuser in Besitz nehmen; ich werde dem Hochmute der Mächtigen ein Ende machen und ihre Feinde sollen ihre Heiligtümer in Besitz nehmen.

Wenn die Bedrängnis hereinbricht, werden sie Frieden suchen, aber er wird nicht gewährt werden.

Bedrängnis über Bedrängnis wird kommen und Kunde über Kunde, da werden sie Gesichte begehren von den Propheten, doch das Gesetz wird dem Priester abhanden kommen und der Rat den Ältesten.

Der König wird trauern, der Fürst sich in Gram kleiden und die Hände des Volkes im Lande werden vor Schrecken verzagen. Ihrem Wandel gemäß will ich ihnen tun und sie ihren Rechten gemäß richten und sie sollen erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin.
