- Kapitel 13 -

1
And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
2
And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
3
And he went on his journeys from the south even to Beth–el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth–el and Hai;
4
Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the Lord .
5
And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
6
And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
7
And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
8
And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.(a)
9
Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.

Lot Proceeds toward Sodom

And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord , like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
11
Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
12
Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
13
But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

God Renews the Promise to Abram

And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
15
For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
16
And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
17
Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
18
Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord .(b)

Abram erbt Kanaan

Abram also zog aus Ägypten herauf, er und sein Weib, und alles, was er hatte, und Lot mit ihm in das Land gegen Mittag.

Er aber war sehr reich, und hatte viel Gold und Silber.

Und er zog auf dem Wege, auf dem er gekommen war, zurück, von Mittag her nach Bethel, bis zu dem Orte, wo er vorher sein Zelt aufgeschlagen hatte, zwischen Bethel und Hai,
4
bei der Stätte des Altars, den er dort zuvor erbaut hatte, und rief daselbst den Namen des Herrn an.
5
Aber auch Lot, der mit Abram zog, hatte Herden von Schafen, und Rinder und Zelte.
6
Und das Land konnte sie nicht fassen, dass sie hätten beisammen wohnen können, denn ihre Habe war groß, und sie konnten nicht beieinander wohnen.
7
Daher entstand auch Streit zwischen den Hirten der Herden Abrams und Lots. Es wohnten aber damals die Chanaaniter und Phereziter in jenem Lande.
8
Deshalb sprach Abram zu Lot: Möge doch nicht Streit sein zwischen mir und dir, und zwischen meinen Hirten und deinen Hirten; sind wir doch Brüder.
9
Siehe, das ganze Land steht dir offen, trenne dich, ich bitte dich, von mir: gehst du zur Linken, so werde ich zur Rechten bleiben; willst du aber die Gegend zur Rechten wählen, so wende ich mich zur Linken.

Da erhob Lot seine Augen und überschaute die ganze Gegend um den Jordan, die, ehe der Herr Sodoma und Gomorrha zerstörte, ganz bewässert war, bis nach Segor hin, wie das Paradies des Herrn und wie Ägypten.
11
Und Lot wählte sich die Gegend am Jordan und brach auf nach Morgen; und so trennten sich die Brüder voneinander.
12
Abram wohnte im Lande Chanaan; Lot aber hielt sich in den Städten auf, die um den Jordan her lagen, und wohnte zu Sodoma.
13
Aber die Leute von Sodoma waren überaus böse und sehr große Sünder vor dem Herrn.
14
Und der Herr sprach zu Abram, nachdem Lot sich von ihm getrennt hatte: erhebe deine Augen und schaue von dem Orte, an welchem du nun bist, gegen Mitternacht und Mittag, gegen Aufgang und Niedergang.
15
All das Land, welches du siehst, werde ich dir und deinen Nachkommen auf immer zu eigen geben.
16
Und ich will deine Nachkommen machen wie den Sand der Erde; wenn ein Mensch den Staub der Erde zählen kann, wird er auch deine Nachkommen zählen können.
17
Mache dich auf und durchziehe das Land nach seiner Länge und nach seiner Breite; denn ich will es dir zu eigen geben.
18
Und Abram brach sein Zelt ab, und kam, und ließ sich im Tale Mambre nieder, welches in Hebron ist, und erbaute daselbst dem Herrn einen Altar.
