- Kapitel 49 -

(Acts 13:42–52)

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The Lord hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;

And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the Lord , and my work with my God.(a)

And now, saith the Lord that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the Lord , and my God shall be my strength.(b)

And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.(c)

Thus saith the Lord , the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.(e)

Thus saith the Lord , In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;(f)

That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.

Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the Lord hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

But Zion said, The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.

Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.(g)

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the Lord , thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.

For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.

The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.

Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?

Thus saith the Lord God , Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.(h)

And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord : for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.(i)

Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?(k)

But thus saith the Lord , Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.(l)

And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.(m)

Der Knecht, das Licht für die Heiden

(Apostelgeschichte 13,42-52)

Höret, ihr Inseln, und merket auf, ihr Völker der Ferne! Der Herr hat mich berufen vom Mutterleibe an, von meiner Mutter Schoße an meines Namens gedacht.

Er machte meinen Mund wie ein scharfes Schwert, im Schatten seiner Hand beschützte er mich und machte mich zu einem auserlesenen Pfeile, in seinem Köcher verbarg er mich.

Und er sprach zu mir: Mein Knecht bist du, Israel! denn an dir will ich mich verherrlichen.

Und ich sprach: Umsonst habe ich mich abgemüht, umsonst und ins Leere meine Kraft vergeudet; daher sei mein Recht bei dem Herrn und mein Werk bei meinem Gott.

Und nun spricht der Herr, der mich vom Mutterleibe an zu seinem Knechte bildet, auf dass ich Jakob zu ihm zurückführe, und Israel wird nicht gesammelt werden: und ich bin verherrlicht in den Augen des Herrn und mein Gott ist meine Stärke geworden;

und er sprach: Zu gering ist es, dass du nur mein Knecht seiest, um die Stämme Jakobs aufzurichten und die Überbleibsel Israels zurückzuführen; siehe, ich habe dich eingesetzt zum Lichte der Völker, dass du mein Heil seiest bis an die Enden der Erde.

So spricht der Herr, der Erlöser Israels, sein Heiliger, zu der verachteten Seele, zu dem verabscheuten Sprössling, zu dem Knechte der Herrscher: Könige werden sehen und Fürsten sich erheben und anbeten um des Herrn willen, denn er ist treu und um des Heiligen Israels willen, der dich erkoren hat.

So spricht der Herr: Zur Zeit der Huld erhörte ich dich und am Tage des Heiles half ich dir und rettete dich und setzte dich ein zum Bunde des Volkes, um aufzurichten das Land, in Besitz zu nehmen die verödeten Erbteile

und den Gefangenen zu sagen: Gehet heraus! Und zu denen in der Finsternis: Kommet ans Licht! Sie werden weiden an den Wegen, auf allen Ebenen werden ihre Triften sein.

Sie werden nicht Hunger noch Durst leiden noch wird Hitze und Sonne sie treffen, denn ihr Erbarmer leitet sie und tränkt sie an Wasserquellen.

Und ich werde alle meine Berge zum Wege machen und meine Straßen werden erhöht werden.

Sehet, diese kommen von ferne her, und sehet, jene von Mitternacht und vom Meere her und diese aus dem Lande gegen Mittag.

Lobsinget, ihr Himmel, und frohlocke, Erde, und jubelt, ihr Berge, im Lobe! denn der Herr hat sein Volk getröstet und seiner Armen sich erbarmt.

Gott wird sich an Zion erinnern

Und Sion sprach: Verlassen hat mich der Herr, und der Herr hat meiner vergessen!

Kann etwa ein Weib ihres Kindes vergessen, dass sie kein Mitleid trage mit dem Sohne ihres Schoßes? Und wenn sie dessen vergäße, so werde ich doch deiner nicht vergessen!

Siehe, in meine Hände habe ich dich gezeichnet, deine Mauern sind vor meinen Augen immerdar.

Es nahen sich deine Aufbauer, deine Zerstörer und Zertrümmerer ziehen von dir hinweg.

Erhebe deine Augen ringsum und siehe: Alle diese versammeln sich, kommen zu dir. So wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, mit allen diesen wirst du wie mit einem Schmuck umkleidet werden, du wirst sie dir umgürten wie eine Braut!

Denn deine Wüsteneien und Öden und dein zerstörtes Land werden jetzt zu eng sein vor der Menge der Bewohner und weithin werden weggescheucht werden, die dich verheert haben.

Noch werden in deinen Ohren die Söhne deiner Unfruchtbarkeit sagen: Zu eng ist mir der Platz, schaffe mir Raum, dass ich wohnen kann!

Und du wirst in deinem Herzen sprechen: Wer hat mir diese geboren? Ich war doch unfruchtbar und nicht gebärend, hinweggeführt und gefangen; und diese da, wer hat sie auferzogen? Ich war doch verlassen und allein, und diese, wo waren sie?

So spricht der Herr, Gott: Siehe, ich erhebe meine Hand zu den Völkern und richte mein Panier auf für die Nationen, um sie bringen deine Söhne in den Armen und deine Töchter tragen sie auf den Schultern.

Und Könige werden deine Wärter und Königinnen deine Ammen sein, mit zur Erde gesenktem Antlitz werden sie dir huldigen und den Staub deiner Füße lecken. Und du wirst erfahren, dass ich der Herr bin, bei dem jene nicht zuschanden werden, die auf ihn harren.

Wird wohl dem Starken die Beute abgenommen oder, was der Gewaltige geraubt hat, gerettet werden können?

Ja, so spricht der Herr: Sicherlich, auch das Gefangene wird dem Starken abgenommen und was der Gewaltige geraubt, wird gerettet. Diejenigen aber, welche dich richteten, werde ich richten und deine Söhne werde ich erretten.

Ich werde deine Feinde ihr eigenes Fleisch verzehren lassen und wie vom Weine sollen sie vom eigenen Blute trunken werden und alles Fleisch wird erfahren, dass ich der Herr bin, dein Heiland, und dass dein Erretter der Starke Jakobs ist.
