- Kapitel 15 -

Then said the Lord unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the Lord ; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.

And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the Lord : the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.(a)

And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.(b)

For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?(c)

Thou hast forsaken me, saith the Lord , thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.

And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.(d)

Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.(e)

She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the Lord .

Jeremiah’s Woe

Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me.

The Lord said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.(f)

Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?

Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.

And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.

O Lord , thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke.

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.(g)

I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.

Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?(h)

The LORD’s Promise

Therefore thus saith the Lord , If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.

And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the Lord .

And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.

Der HERR wird nicht nachgeben

Da sprach der Herr zu mir: Wenn auch Moses und Samuel vor mich hinträten, so würde mein Herz sich doch nicht diesem Volke zuneigen; treib sie hinweg von meinem Angesichte, dass sie von dannen gehen!

Und wenn sie dann zu dir sprechen: Wohin sollen wir fortgehen? So sage ihnen: Also spricht der Herr: Wer für den Tod bestimmt ist, in den Tod; wer für das Schwert, zum Schwerte; wer für den Hunger, zum Hunger; wer für die Gefangenschaft, zur Gefangenschaft.

Und ich will sie mit viererlei Plagen heimsuchen, spricht der Herr: Mit dem Schwerte, dass sie getötet werden, mit Hunden, dass sie zerrissen werden, mit den Vögeln des Himmels und den wilden Tieren der Erde, dass sie verschlungen und vertilgt werden.

Und ich will sie zum Grauen für alle Reiche der Erde machen, um Manasses, des Sohnes Ezechias, des Königs von Juda, willen, wegen alles dessen, was er in Jerusalem getan hat.

Denn wer wird Erbarmen gegen dich üben, Jerusalem? oder wer wird dir Teilnahme zeigen? oder wer wird hintreten, um Frieden für dich zu erbitten?

Du hast mich verlassen, spricht der Herr, du hast dich rückwärts abgewandt; so will ich meine Hand über dich ausstrecken und dich töten, ich bin des Mahnens müde.

Ich will sie mit der Wurfschaufel in den Toren des Landes niederworfeln. Ich habe mein Volk getötet und vernichtet, aber dennoch kehrten sie von ihren Wegen nicht um.

Ihre Witwen sind mir zahlreicher geworden als der Sand am Meere, ich ließ über die Mutter der jungen Mannschaft den Verwüster am Mittage kommen und sandte plötzlich Schrecken über die Städte.

Hingesiecht ist die, welche sieben Kinder geboren, dahingeschwunden ist ihr Leben; untergegangen ist die Sonne für sie, während es noch Tag war, sie ist zuschanden und schamrot geworden. Was von ihr noch übrig geblieben ist, will ich dem Schwerte preisgeben vor ihren Feinden, spricht der Herr.

Jeremias Niedergeschlagenheit

Wehe mir, meine Mutter! Warum hast du mich geboren, einen Mann des Haders, einen Mann des Streites für die ganze Welt? Ich habe nicht auf Wucher ausgeliehen noch hat jemand mir geliehen und doch fluchen mir alle.

Der Herr spricht: Wahrlich! was dir noch übrig ist, führe ich zu gutem Ende; ich will dir zu Hilfe kommen in der Zeit der Bedrängnis und der Trübsal wider den Feind.

Kann wohl Eisen und Erz sich zu dem Eisen von Norden gesellen?

Deine Schätze und deine Reichtümer werde ich dem Raube preisgeben ohne Zahlung, für alle deine Sünden, und dies in allen deinen Marken.

Und ich werde deine Feinde aus einem Lande herbeiführen, das du nicht kennst, denn ein Feuer ist in meinem Grimm entbrannt und wird über euch emporflammen.

Du weißt es, Herr! gedenke mein und behüte mich und schütze mich vor meinen Verfolgern; schirme mich nicht nach deiner Langmut, bedenke, dass ich deinetwillen Schmach ausstehe!

Fanden sich Worte von dir, so verschlang ich sie und dein Wort gereichte mir zur Freude und zur Wonne meines Herzens; denn dein Name ist über mich angerufen, Herr, Gott der Heerscharen!

Nicht saß ich in der Gesellschaft der Fröhlichen, sondern rühmte mich dessen, was deine Hand an mir getan; ich saß einsam, denn du erfülltest mich mit deinem Dräuen.

Warum ist mein Schmerz beständig geworden, und ist meine Wunde hoffnungslos und will sich nicht heilen lassen? Sie ward mir wie trügerische Wasser, auf die kein Verlass ist.

Der HERR ermutigt Jeremia

Darum spricht der Herr also: Wenn du umkehrst, werde ich dich zurückbringen und vor mich treten lassen; und wenn du das Kostbare von dem Schlechten sonderst, so wirst du wie mein Mund sein; jene werden sich alsdann zu dir umwenden und nicht du wirst dich zu ihnen wenden.

Ich will dich diesem Volke gegenüber zu einer ehernen, festen Mauer machen; kämpfen sie wider dich, so werden sie nichts über dich vermögen; denn ich bin mit dir, und dir zu helfen und dich zu erretten, spricht der Herr.

Und ich will dich aus der Hand der Bösen befreien und dich aus der Hand der Gewalttätigen erlösen.
