- Kapitel 15 -

The tongue of the wise

1
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
2
The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.(a)
3
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
4
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.(b)
5
A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
6
In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7
The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
8
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord : but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9
The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord : but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10
Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.(c)
11
Hell and destruction are before the Lord : how much more then the hearts of the children of men?
12
A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

Reward for a cheerful heart

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14
The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.
15
All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
16
Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith.
17
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
18
A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19
The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.(d)
20
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

Instruction in wisdom

Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.(e)

Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
23
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!(f)

The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.
25
The Lord will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
26
The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord : but the words of the pure are pleasant words.(g)
27
He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28
The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29
The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30
The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.
31
The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.(h) (i) (j)

The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

Die Zunge der Weisen

Eine sanfte Antwort bricht den Zorn, harte Rede erweckt Grimm.

Die Zunge der Weisen ziert Erkenntnis, der Mund der Toren sprudelt Torheit aus.

An jedem Orte schauen die Augen des Herrn auf Gute und Böse.

Eine friedliebende Zunge ist ein Baum des Lebens, aber eine zügellose schlägt den Geist nieder.

Ein Tor spottet der Zucht seines Vaters; wer aber die Rüge beachtet, wird klüger. In der Fülle der Gerechtigkeit ist sehr große Kraft, aber die Anschläge der Gottlosen werden zunichte.

Das Haus des Gerechten ist eine starke Feste, aber bei dem Erwerb des Gottlosen herrscht Zerrüttung.

Die Lippen der Weisen streuen Erkenntnis aus, aber das Herz der Toren ist nicht also.

Die Opfer der Gottlosen sind dem Herrn ein Greuel, die Gelübde der Gerechten wohlgefällig.

Ein Greuel ist dem Herrn der Weg des Gottlosen; wer der Gerechtigkeit nachgeht, den liebt er.

Schlimme Züchtigung trifft den, der den Weg des Lebens verlässt, und wer die Rüge haßt, wird sterben.

Unterwelt und Verderben liegen vor dem Herrn offen, wie viel mehr die Herzen der Menschenkinder?

Der Verdorbene liebt den nicht, der ihn zurechtweist, und geht nicht mit den Weisen um.

Belohnung für ein fröhliches Herz

Ein fröhliches Herz erheitert das Angesicht, bei Kummer des Herzens ist der Geist niedergeschlagen.

Das Herz des Weisen sucht Belehrung, aber der Mund der Toren nährt sich von Unverstand.

Alle Tage des Armen sind schlimm, ein ruhiges Gemüt ist wie ein beständiges Freudenmahl.

Besser ist weniges mit der Furcht des Herrn als große Schätze, die nicht sättigen.

Besser ist es, zu Gemüse geladen zu werden, wobei Liebe, als zu einem gemästeten Kalbe, wobei Hass.

Ein zornmütiger Mann erregt Streit; wer geduldig ist, beschwichtigt den ausgebrochenen.

Der Weg der Trägen gleicht einem Dornenzaun, der Weg der Gerechten ist ohne Hindernis.

Ein weiser Sohn erfreut den Vater, aber ein törichter Mensch verachtet seine Mutter.

Unterweisung in Weisheit

Torheit macht dem Toren Freude, aber der verständige Mann geht den geraden Weg.

Vereitelt werden die Anschläge, wo Überlegung fehlt; wo aber viele Ratgeber sind, haben sie Bestand.

Jeder freut sich an dem Ausspruche seines Mundes und ein Wort zur rechten Zeit ist sehr gut.

Der Weg des Lebens geht aufwärts für den Einsichtsvollen, damit er der Hölle entgehe.

Das Haus der Hoffärtigen zerstört der Herr, aber der Witwe Grenzen sichert er.

Ein Greuel sind dem Herrn böse Anschläge, aber reine Rede besteht herrlich vor ihm.

Sein eigenes Haus zerstört, wer der Habsucht folgt; wer aber Geschenke hasst, wird leben. Durch Barmherzigkeit und Treue wird man von Sünden rein; durch die Furcht des Herrn aber hält man sich fern vom Bösen.

Das Herz des Gerechten sinnt auf Gehorsam, der Mund der Gottlosen fließt über vom Bösen.

Fern ist der Herr von den Gottlosen, aber die Gebete der Gerechten erhört er.

Der Lichtglanz der Augen erfreut die Seele, eine gute Nachricht labt die Gebeine.

Ein Ohr, das auf die Rügen des Lebens hört, wird inmitten der Weisen weilen.

Wer die Zurechtweisung verwirft, verachtet seine eigene Seele; wer aber der Warnung nachgibt, erwirbt Einsicht.

Die Furcht des Herrn ist die Zuchtschule der Weisheit und Demut geht der Ehre voraus.
