The treasure of the wicked

(Psalm 21:1-13)
1
The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord , as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.
3
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
4
An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.(a) (b)
5
The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.(c)
8
The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9
It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.(d) (e)
10
The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.(f)
11
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12
The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

The treasures of the wise

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15
It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17
He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.(g)
18
The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19
It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.(h)
20
There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22
A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24
Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.(i)
25
The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27
The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?(j)
28
A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.(k)
29
A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.(l)
30
There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord .
31
The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord .(m)

Der Schatz der Bösewichte

(Psalm 21,1-13)

Das Herz des Königs ist in der Hand des Herrn wie Wasserleitungen; wohin er irgend will, lenkt er es hin.

Jedem scheint sein Weg der rechte, der Herr aber wägt die Herzen ab.

Barmherzig sein und recht tun gefällt dem Herrn mehr als Schlachtopfer.

Stolz der Augen ist Aufblähung des Herzens, die Leuchte der Gottlosen ist die Sünde.

Die Gedanken des Starken gehen stets auf Überfluß, jeder Faule aber bleibe immerdar in Armut:

Wer Schätze sammelt mit lügenhafter Zunge, ist eitel und unsinnig und fällt in die Fallstricke des Todes.

Der Gottlosen Raub rafft sie hinweg, weil sie nicht tun wollen, was recht ist.
8
Verkehrt ist der Wandel eines Mannes, ist er der unrechte; wer aber rein ist, dessen Tun ist recht.
9
Besser ist es, auf der Zinne eines Daches zu sitzen als bei einem zänkischen Weibe zu sein und im gemeinsamen Hause.
10
Die Seele des Gottlosen begehrt Böses, er kennt kein Erbarmen mit seinem Nächsten.

Wird der Spötter bestraft, so wird der Einfältige weiser; und wenn er dem Weisen folgt, erhält er Einsicht.
12
Der Gerechte achtet auf das Haus des Gottlosen, um die Gottlosen abzuwenden vom Bösen.

Die Schätze der Weisen

Wer sein Ohr vor dem Geschrei des Armen verstopft, wird auch selbst rufen, aber nicht erhört werden.

Ein Geschenk im Geheimen löscht den Zorn aus und eine Gabe im Busen den heftigsten Grimm.

Rechttun ist den Gerechten eine Freude, aber ein Schrecken für die Übeltäter.

Ein Mensch, der vom Wege der Einsicht abirrt, wird in der Versammlung der Gewaltigen wohnen.
17
Wer Wohlleben lieb hat, wird arm; wer Wein und Fettes liebt, wird nicht reich.

Zur Auslösung des Gerechten wird der Gottlose hingegeben und der Sünder anstatt der Rechtschaffenen.

Besser ist es, in einem Wüstenlande zu wohnen als bei einem zänkischen und zornmütigen Weibe.

Ein begehrenswerter Schatz und Öl sind in der Wohnung des Gerechten, aber der unkluge Mensch verschwendet solches.
21
Wer nach Gerechtigkeit und Barmherzigkeit strebt, erlangt Leben, Gerechtigkeit und Ehre.

Die Stadt der Heiden ersteigt der Weise und stürzt die Stärke, auf welche sie vertraut.

Wer seinen Mund und seine Zunge bewahrt, bewahrt sein Leben vor Bedrängnissen.

Wer hoffärtig und anmaßend ist, wird ein Tor genannt, der im Zorne seinen Übermut ausübt.

Wünsche töten den Faulen, denn seine Hände wollen nichts schaffen.

Den ganzen Tag verlangt er und hat Wünsche; wer aber gerecht ist, gibt ohne Unterlass.

Die Schlachtopfer der Gottlosen sind ein Greuel, weil sie für Schandtat dargebracht werden.

Ein lügenhafter Zeuge geht zugrunde; ein Mann, der gehorsam ist, wird siegreich sein in seinen Reden.

Der Gottlose nimmt freche Mienen an; wer aber rechtschaffen ist, macht gerade seinen Weg.
30
Es gibt keine Weisheit, es gibt keine Klugheit, es gibt keinen Ratschluss wider den Herrn.
31
Das Ross wird gerüstet auf den Tag des Streites, der Herr aber verleiht den Sieg.
