- Kapitel 1 -

(Jude 1:1–2)

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,(a) to the twelve tribes which are in the Dispersion: Greetings.

Rejoicing in Trials

(Philippians 1:12–20)

Count it all joy, my brothers,(b) when you fall into various temptations,

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.

Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.

Good and Perfect Gifts

Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.

Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death.

Don’t be deceived, my beloved brothers.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation nor turning shadow.

Of his own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

Hearing and Doing

So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;

for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.

Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.(c)

But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;

for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

Jakobus, Diener Gottes und unsers Herrn Jesus Christus, den zwölf Stämmen, die in der Zerstreuung sind, Gruß.

Von Prüfungen profitieren

(Philipper 1,12-20)

Achtet es für lauter Freude, meine Brüder! wenn ihr mannigfachen Anfechtungen anheimfallet,

da ihr wisset, dass die Prüfung eures Glaubens Geduld wirkt.

Die Geduld aber hat ein vollkommenes Werk inne, damit ihr vollkommen und vollendet seiet, in keiner Sache etwas fehlen lassend.

Wenn es aber einem von euch an Weisheit gebricht, so bitte er Gott, welcher allen reichlich gibt, und es nicht vorrückt; und sie wird ihm gegeben werden.

Er bitte aber im Glauben, ohne zu zweifeln; denn wer zweifelt, ist einer Meereswoge ähnlich, die vom Winde bewegt und hin und hergetrieben wird.

Es wähne also ein solcher Mensch ja nicht, dass er etwas von dem Herrn empfangen werde.

Ein im Herzen geteilter Mann ist unbeständig auf allen seinen Wegen.

Die Perspektive von Reich und Arm

Es rühme sich aber der niedrige Bruder seiner Höhe,

der Reiche aber seiner Niedrigkeit; denn wie eine Grasesblume wird er vergehen.

Denn die Sonne ging auf mit ihrer Glut und dörrte das Gras aus, seine Blume fiel ab, und die Schönheit ihres Ansehens verging; so wird auch der Reiche auf seinen Wegen dahinsiechen.

Gott lieben unter Prüfungen

Selig der Mann, welcher die Anfechtung besteht! Denn wenn er bewährt erfunden ist, wird er die Krone des Lebens empfangen, welche Gott denen verheißen hat, die ihn lieben.

Niemand sage, wenn er versucht wird, dass er von Gott versucht werde; denn Gott kann nicht zum Bösen versucht werden, er versucht aber auch niemanden.

Ein jeder wird vielmehr versucht, indem er von seiner eigenen Begierlichkeit hingezogen und gelockt wird.

Wenn alsdann die Begierlichkeit empfangen hat, gebiert er die Sünde; die Sünde aber gebiert, wenn sie vollendet ist, den Tod.

Irret also nicht, meine geliebten Brüder!

Jede gute Gabe und jedes vollkommene Geschenk stammt von oben, herabsteigend vom Vater der Lichter, bei welchem keine Veränderung statthat, noch ein Schatten von Wandel ist.

Denn aus freiem Willen hat er uns durch das Wort der Wahrheit gezeugt, damit wir gleichsam die Erstlinge seiner Geschöpfe seien.

Qualitäten, die in Prüfungen benötigt werden

Ihr wisset es, meine geliebten Brüder! Es sei aber jeder Mensch schnell zum Hören, langsam aber zum Reden, und langsam zum Zürnen.

Denn der Zorn des Menschen tut nicht, was vor Gott gerecht ist.

Handelnde - nicht nur Hörende

Darum nehmet als solche, die alle Unreinigkeit und alle Überwucherung der Bosheit abgelegt haben, in Sanftmut das eingepflanzte Wort an, das eure Seelen retten kann.

Seid aber Vollbringer des Wortes, und nicht allein Hörer, indem ihr euch selbst betrügt.

Denn wenn jemand ein Hörer des Ortes ist und nicht Vollbringer, ein solcher gleicht einem Manne, welcher sein natürliches Antlitz im Spiegel beschaut.

Denn hat er sich beschaut und ist hinweggegangen, so hat er sogleich vergessen, wie er aussah.

Wer aber das vollkommene Gesetz der Freiheit aufmerksam betrachtet hat und dabei beharrt, wer nicht ein vergesslicher Hörer geworden ist, sondern ein Vollbringer der Werke, der wird selig sein durch sein Tun.

Wenn aber jemand vermeint wahrhaft fromm zu sein und hält seine Zunge nicht im Zaume, sondern täuscht sein Herz, dessen Gottesdienst eitel ist.

Ein Gottesdienst rein und makellos vor Gott und dem Vater ist dies: die Waisen und Witwen in ihrer Trübsal besuchen, und sich unbefleckt bewahren durch Abwendung von dieser Welt.
